What if Bears killed one in five people?

This video was recently uploaded by College Humor to talk about Sexual assault and harassment.
Do you think it is effective?
Is it too much or is it perfect?

  1. I really like this video! I think that using statistics, such as 1 in 5 people are attacked, for the 'bear' was a great idea.I especially liked the quote "It effects all of us", because sexual assault and harassment truly does. I think this ad is effective because it uses real statistics and addresses an extremely serious issue through an almost funny subject of friends being attacked by a bear. While the true subject is in no way funny, using an approach such as this raises awareness and attracts an audience that would normally not watch a video about sexual assault and harassment.

  2. This video is great to try and get guys to be interested in helping out who really care. Men are very immature almost there whole life so to try and make something that they can actually watch the whole video and see the statistic and sit back to think about that. 1 in 5 is a large majority of people and if there is any way to help it might motivate making that number less. Sexual assault is a serious issue that shouldn't be taken lightly.

  3. I also really like this video; humor was effectively intermingled with a serious subject. Not only was this video able to get the statistic out there and known, but, as Jaylen suggested, the video even has an appeal to male audiences. The use of popular actors also helped with my initial appeal (I LOVE Jake Johnson!) Lastly, the way the actual purpose of the video- to raise awareness of sexual assault- was revealed at the end was smart and futile towards the success of the ad. I agree with what Jordan said: “(The video) attracts an audience that would normally not watch a video about sexual assault and harassment.” If the sexual assault statistic was instead at the beginning of the video, not only would the tone have been different, but the jokes about the bear wouldn’t have been relatively humorous.

  4. I think the humor is cleverly placed in this video. I agree that Jake Johnson was a great choice. I enjoy his football skits and this was no difference. I hope that it actually helped people see the issue of sexual assault and show them that it is ridiculous and that people need help to prevent it.
As someone who has been sexually assaulted, harassed, and raped, I found it incredibly moving and most of the dialogue I had heard in real life. I think it even helped me realize that what happened to me was not my fault.
